We would always recommend that you view the nursery before making your final decision to place your child with us. Following your visit to The Bruce Nursery the process of enrolment is as follows: We will check our occupancy to ensure the days or sessions you require are available. If your required sessions are available, we will issue you with the Enrolment form, Consent Form and all About Me Form for you to complete with your child’s personal information.

If your required days or sessions are unavailable you can elect to place your child on our Waiting List. Our Waiting List operates on a ‘first come, first served’ basis however priority is given to children who currently have siblings attending The Bruce Nursery.

A deposit of £150 (full time) or £75 (part time) is required to reserve a place at The Bruce Nursery. This amount will be deducted from your first month’s invoice.

Upon receipt of the above forms and deposit, we will confirm your nursery place with you, in writing.

You will be invoiced monthly in advance. Our preferred method of payment is Bank Transfer, Tax Free Childcare or Employers Childcare Vouchers.

Fees are usually reviewed annually, however they are subject to review/change with one month’s notice.

Childcare Tax Credits

You may be able to apply for Tax Credits to help with your childcare costs. To find out if you are eligible contact:

Tax-Free Childcare

You may be eligible for up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year)

If you receive Tax-Free Childcare, you’ll set up an online childcare account for your child. For every £8 you pay into this account, the government will pay in £2 to use to pay your provider.

You can get Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as your annual 1140 hours Aberdeen City Council funded childcare, if you’re eligible for both.

For more information please visit:

Pre-school Funding

Funding is available for your child's pre-school education from Aberdeen City Council. The Nursery Manager can give you details on how to apply for this. The funding is available to all children after their third birthday and is not means tested. Your child will become eligible for the funded hours from the school term following their third birthday in August, January or April. The pre-school funding is for a maximum of 1140 hours per year.

There is a consumables charge of £5.70 per day or part day applied on days where funded hours are claimed. The consumables charge is to cover extra curricular activities, festivals, celebrations and additional materials which are spread through the year.

Emergency Places

Should you require extra days/sessions for your child at short notice, perhaps due to illness, bereavement or work commitments, we will make every effort to accommodate your request if there is an available place in your child’s age group. These emergency sessions are charged at the normal nursery rate.
